Mitsui O.S.K Line Building
Continental voyages waiting room
This is a wooden 2-storey building consisting of an octagonal observatory andvivid
orange-colored walls. It was built in 1917 as the Osaka Shosen Moji Branch Office.
At that time, the observatory was used for looking out over Moji Port, and the building was
utilized as a waiting room for continental voyages.
At present the building serves as a gallery for the works of Watase Raizo (who is an illustrator
from Kitakyushu City), as well as the locale for the Moji-ko Art Mura (Art village) called
“Minato-no Machieiru”.
