Harajiri waterfall, in Oita-prefecture
It is called Niagara Falls of Japan. The Ogata river, running through the center of the
Ogata plain in Oita-prefecture, the flows furiously down a cliff and creates Harajiri waterfall.
The falls, 120 meters wide and 20 meters tall, are selected as one of the best 100 waterfall
in Japan. Lava flows produced by the great eruption of Mt. Aso accumulated and created
Harajiri Falls.
Kusasenri-ga-hama, in Aso, Kumamoto-prefecture
The beautiful prairie of 785,000 square meter in the crater. Spreads in northern part of
Mt. Eboshi that is one of the Aso five Mountains.
A big pond at its center and grazing horses round about make an idyllic scene.

Nabegataki waterfall, in Kumamoto-prefecture
Nabegataki waterfall is a hidden tourist spot in Kumamoto prefecture, located just outside
Oguni town in Aso region. One of the area’s more well-known waterfalls. Looking like a
mini-Niagara.
It is very unique waterfalls, you can actually climb behind the falls to see how the water has
carved out the rock over the year.

Aoi Aso Shrine, in Hitoyosi, Kumamoto-prefecture
Aoi Aso Shrine, located in Kami-Aoi-cho, Hitoyoshi-city, was designated as the first national treasure
in Kumamoto-prefecture by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2008,
as “an extremely outstanding Important Cultural Property and one with particularly deep cultural and
historical significance.”
The shine is the oldest extant shrine in the Hitoyoshi-city. It dates from 806 and bears similarities in
layout to the imperial palace of that time in Heiankyo (now Kyoto), which was built in 794.
Most of the current shrine buildings date from 1610 and are a blend of several architectural styles with
some unusual decorative details.
An iconic symbol of the shrine
The approach to the worship hall passes through the two-story romon gate. The gate is 12 meters high,
with a steeply angled thatch roof. The transoms are decorated with dynamic carvings, including
episodes from a series of Confucian teachings (the Twenty-Four Exemplars of Filial Piety) and a pair
of carved white faces at each of the four corners. The carved faces are the only known carvings of their
kind in Japan and represent the emotions of pleasure, anger, sorrow, and joy.
Shochu brewery in Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto-prefecture
Shochu is a Japanese distilled beverage less than 45% alcohol by volume.
Typically shochu contains 25% alcohol by volume, which is weaker than whisky or
standard-strength vodka but stronger than wine and sake.
Takahashi Shuzo is a Shochu brewery in Hitoyoshi founded in 1900.

Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Miyazaki-prefecture
Phoenix Seagaia is a resort facility located in Hamayama, Yamazaki-cho, Miyazaki-city,
Miyazaki-prefecture.
As of 2024, its official name is “Phoenix Seagaia Resort.” The name is a combination of
“Sea,” meaning the ocean, and “Gaia,” meaning the earth.
It is home to the prestigious golf course “Phoenix Country Club” and Tom Watson Golf Course.

tower standing within a huge pine forest.
Udo Shrine, in Nichinan, Miyazaki-prefecture
Beautiful and exciting Shine. Udo Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the cave of the cliff side
facing the Pacific Ocean. It is located about 35 km south of Miyazaki city. In legend,
a goddess of sea built a hut to give birth to a great god here. Then it is said that Empress
Suiko (554-628) built the shrine there. The priest of Tendai Buddhism built a Buddhist
temple in 782, on the order of Emperor Kanmu. In the middle ages, this area had been
the training place for mountain priests because of the steep rocky cliffs.
Cruz Sea, in Hyuga, Miyazaki-prefecture
Cruz Sea is located in Hyuga, Miyazaki-prefecture.
Your wishes come true here. The Cruz Sea is an area of ocean that appears to have a
cross in it when viewed from an observatory.
This cape is known as a ria coast; the “cross shape” was created by the narrow terrain
here being eroded by rivers, resulting in a cross-shaped sea route.
Because the cross-shape looks similar to the Japanese kanji character 叶 (meaning “to
grant a wish”) it is commonly said that if you make a wish here it will be granted.
Mount Sarakura, in Kitakyushu-city, Fukuoka-prefecture
Mount Sarakura is the best scenic spot in Kitakyushu-city.
The height of the mountain is 622 meters from sea level. At the top you are presented with a
magnificent and spectacular view of Kitakyushu. In 10 minutes, you can reach the summit
from the Cable Car Station using the Cable car and the Slope car.
