Raizan Sennyo-ji temple, Itoshima, Fukuoka-prefecture

 

One of the most famous temple in Fukuoka prefecture known for being a great place for cherry

blossom viewing in the spring, and many people visit in the autumn to see the fall foliage.

The temple was founded in 725, Nara period by Seiga, who come from India as a priest

during the period. There is an Important Cultural Property which is the 4.8 meter wooden 

Avalokitesvara statue in the main hall.  The main hall was founded by Kuroda Tsugutaka

who was the 6th feudal lord of Kuroda clan in Fukuoka.

400 years of age big maple tree, which has been designated as natural monument of

Fukuoka prefecture, has been said to be planted by him.

Ukiha Inari Shrine, Fukuoka-prefecture

 

Breath taking scenery in harmony with the Shrine.  Ukiha Inari Shrine, located at foot of Mino

mountain range, 130 m height from sea level. The 90 vermilion coloured Torii Gates stand on

the 300 steps stairs is introduced you from bottom area to the Shrine main building.

From the Shrine compound, a breath taking panoramic view of Chikugo plain in harmony with

Torii Gate can be enjoyed.

Yame Central Tea Plantation, Fukuoka-prefecture

 

The country of Green Tea, Yame.  The Green Tea grown in Yame is one of the highest grade

of tea throughout Japan.  This is the large Tea plantation spreading on a gently sloping hilly

area, about 70 ha.

There is an observatory at the top of hill,  Ariake bay as well as Shimabara Peninsula in

Nagasaki-prefecture can be seen on sunny days.

Nakasu, in Fukuoka-city

 

One of the largest entertainment districts in western Japan, bustling at night with young people

and business men and women. Around 2000 eating and drinking establishments including Yatai

is crammed in this area, Neon light reflect alluringly on the Naka River.

Yatai  is a specialty of Fukuoka, attracting people with a variety of meals including ramen,
oden (hot pot dish), yakitori (grilled chicken), tempura (deep fried sea food and vegetables),
gyoza (potstikers),  and other cusines. It is said that there are about 180 yatais mainly in
Nakasu and Tenjin.
Enjoy the adult nightlife, take a walk by the river, or enjoy a trip on a pleasure boat.

THE OUTLETS Kitakyushu, in Fukuoka-prefecture

 

The largest Outlets in Kyushu, and is located Higashida in Kitakyushu-city.

There are 140 outlet stores, including the world’s leading imported brands,

outdoor sports brands, and speciality stores.

And also there are restaurant and cafes.

There are many places where not only adults but also children can enjoy

such as Space LABO, ASOBLE, Gira Park HIGASHIDA as well as Activation Field. 

 
 

Fruits picking in Chikugo region, Fukuoka-prefecture

 

The Chikugo Plain, where spreads along the Chikugo River basin, is the most

prosperous agricultural region in Fukuoka-prefecture.

In particular, Asakura, Ukiha, and Tanushimaru are cultivated with a wide

variety of fruits.

You can enjoy fruit picking all year round.

Strawberry : all year round

Grape : August to beginning of October

Pear : August to beginning of October

Persimmon : Middle of October to beginning of December

Apple : August to December

Kaichu Torii, in Saga-prefecture

 

Kaichu Torii gates in the sea have become a popular photo spot when the tide is high.
The “Floating Torii Gate” of Ouo Shrine stands on the shallow area of the ocean in

Tara-cho, which has 6 meter tide difference. It changes its appearance every time

you look at it, and it is a famous tourist spot.

In August, Yukino Lantern Festival will be held, the view of 500 lanterns and torii on the

ocean is very romantic.

 

Okawachiyama porcelain district, in Imari, Saga-prefecture

 

Imari is most notable because of Imari porcelain which has 400 years history.

The city borders Arita to the south and embraces the natural port of Imari Bay.

The porcelain was exported from the port of Imari specifically for the European

export trade. Originally, an owner of the Imari porcelain was Nabeshima clan,

in order to develop and protect its outstanding technique, he gathered skilled

artisans and painters in  Okawachiyama district. Now. about 30 potteries are

manufacturing Imari porcelain.

Samurai houses, in Shimabara, Nagasaki-prefecture

 

Samurai was a term for the military nobility in pre-industrial Japan. The Samurai Houses in

Shimabara along the old Samurai street nearby Shimabara Castle were built in 18th century.

Three samurai houses, the Yamamoto residence, Shinozuka residence and Torita residence,

are opened to the public exhibiting the life style of old Samurai.

Huis Ten Bosch, in Nagasaki-prefecture

 

Huis Ten Bosch is a theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki-prefecture, which recreates the Netherlands

by displaying life-sized copies of old Dutch buildings. The name Huis Ten Bosch translates into

English as “House in the Woods/bush”.  It is named after Huis ten Bosch in The Hague, one of the

three official residences of the Dutch Royal Family.
