Kokura Castle open to the public today

Kokura Castle is reopened to the public today, after temporarily close due to COVId-19.

Asakura Triple Water Wheel

The Triple Water Wheel operation has been started on June 17 this year for water supply to rice

field around Chikugo river.

Asakura is the only area in Japan to use water wheels for irrigation. The irrigation system

used the Triple Water Wheel was completed in 1760.

The water is supplied from Yamada weir in Chikugo through the canal to the Triple Water Wheel. 

And then the water distributed to each rice field by Triple Water Wheel.

Moma whistle

Moma-bue or Moma-whistle is a fork art toy of Owl doll in Tsuyazaki, Fukutsu.

It was born over 300 years ago as a talisman and was dedicated to Miyajidake Shrine.

The largest Shrine in Kyushu / Kora Taisha Shrine

The largest Shrine in Kyushu and the shrine is specified as Ichino-miya or the representative

Shrine in Chikugo region. Located in Kurume-city, stand at the middle of Kora Mountain.

From the Shrine compound, breath taking magnificent view of Chikugo plain can be seen.

Eel cuisine

The lunch today is Steamed Eel at local restaurant Chikurintei in Kitakyushu.

Steamed Eel was born in Yanagawa more than 300 years ago.

Rice seasoned with a special sauce is topped by grilled eel and thin shredded

omelet, all of which is steamed in a bamboo steamer.

Horseshoe in Kitakyushu

The horseshoe lives in Sone Tidal flat in Kitakyushu.

It has hardly changed in hundreds of millions of years and is considered to be living fossils.

season today.

This is Shinozaki Shrine where I visit every morning.
