Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, in Fukuoka-city
The sprawling, family oriented public park located on a narrow peninsula across the bay from
central Fukuoka. The park is made up of several different areas including flower gardens,
playgrounds, an amusement park with ferris wheel, sports fields, a water park, a zoo and large
open spaces and lawns perfect for picnicking.
Huis Ten Bosch, in Nagasaki-prefecture
Huis Ten Bosch is a theme park in Sasebo, which recreates the Netherlands by displaying
life-sized copies of old Dutch buildings. The name Huis Ten Bosch translates into English
as “House in the Woods/bush”. It is named after Huis ten Bosch in The Hague, one of the
three official residences of the Dutch Royal Family.

Sanrio Harmoneyland, in Hiji, Oita-prefecture
A theme park dedicated to the various Sanrio characters including Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll
and My Melody. Harmonyland is located in Hiji, Oita Prefecture, approximately a 30minutes
drive from JR Beppu Station. There are live shows that take place daily, plenty of rides,
and opportunities to have photos with your favorite Sanrio characters.
If you want a great view out over the surrounding landscape, try the Ferris wheel – you
may even be lucky enough to hop into a Hello Kitty carriage. Hours for Harmonyland
differ depending on the season, and closure days also change from month to month.
Takasaki mountain animal park, in Oita
An altitude of 625m located in the boundary line of Oita-city and Beppu-city is known
as a habitat of the wild Japanese monkey.
The park was opened in 1953, in which about 1700 wild Japanese monkey are living.
The monkeys are fed regularly by park wardens in order to keep them on the mountain
and prevent conflicts with farmers and residents in the neighborhood.
Marine World Uminonakamichi, in Fukuoka-city
The aquarium focuses on the aquatic life found around Kyushu. The main tank is a huge,
seven meter deep pool filled with all different kinds of marine life including over 120 sharks
of 20 different varieties. There are also several outdoor tanks where you can experience
feeding dolphins and sea lions.
Sun Messe Nichinan, in Miyazaki
Japan’s own replica of Moai Statues. Enjoy a breath taking panoramic view of the Pacific
Ocean, the Sun Messe Nichinan has replicas of the Moai statues from the Easter Island
placed here and there in the area.
The Sun Messe Nichinan is the only place all over the world that has been permitted to
replicate the Moai statues. There are restaurants and also tourist viewing areas inside
the park.
