Hiroshima

Hiroshima is located in southwestern part of the Japanese archipelago and face to the Seto Inland Sea.

Its capital is Hiroshima-city. It offers the Seto Inland climate, which features temperature weather and low
rainfall all the year round.

It has two World Heritage sites: the Atomic Bomb Dome and Itsukushima Shrine, both of which attract

many visitors.

Where to explore

Itsukushima Shrine

A Shinto shrine dedicated to the three daughter of the deity of seas and storms on the sacred Miyajima

Island in Seto Inland Sea, where gods are believe.

The vermillion-painted buildings connected by corridors and its symbolic great torii gate appear as if

floating on the sea at high tides. more

Atomic Bomb Dome

It is the only structure left standing in the area where the first atomic bomb exploded on August 6 1945.

The Atomic Bomb Dome is the ruin of the former Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall that

was destroyed when the first nuclear weapon, atomic bomb, in human history was dropped by an

American Air Force bomber in 1945.  more

Treasure, was completely destroyed by an atomic bomb in 1945.

The present five-layered donjon was reconstructed in 1958 and the interior of the donjon is used

as Museum of Historical Materials, which introduces the culture of warriors. more

Local Cuisines

Grilled eel on rice (アナゴ飯)

Charcoal grilled eel seasoned with soy sauce and mirin served on boiled rice.

The aroma that rises the cooking eel is mouthwatering.

Oyster (カキ)

Hiroshima is Japan’s leading oyster producing area and the oyster that come out of Hiroshima are popular for their delicious flavor. They are generally eaten raw or grilled but we also recommend you try the Oyster Dote hotpot, in which a sweet miso paste is gradually blended in to the stock.
